Certified General Appraisers

A Certified General Appraiser may appraise all types of real property provided that he or she has the expertise necessary to competently complete the appraisal assignment (or takes alternative steps to meet the Competency Rule of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice “USPAP”).

Applicants to become “Certified General” must meet the following education, experience and examination requirements:

Education: 300 qualifying course hours as specified by Appraisers Qualification Board 2008 Core Curriculum. Also required is a bachelors degree, or higher, or college transcript of successfully passing a total of at least 30 semester credit hours of specific types of collegiate level courses as stipulated by the Arizona Board of Appraisal.

Experience: 3000 hours in not less than 30 months. At least 1500 hours must reflect nonresidential appraisals.

Examination: National Uniform Real Property Appraiser Examination for Certified General Appraisers approved by the Appraiser Qualifications Board.
